ABOUT US
Founded in 1948, the University of Melbourne Optometry Student Society (UMOSS) was formed to be the official student representative body for OD students at the University of Melbourne.
Our primary goal with UMOSS is to enrich the OD student experience, by providing a platform where you, our fellow OD peers can socialise, network and build on their knowledge.
UMOSS hosts a wide variety of social events throughout the year, from educational seminars and networking events to our annual boat cruise and annual (eye)ball. In addition to social events, UMOSS also hosts peer-assisted programs, like our “Big Brother Big Sister” mentorship program, and revision sessions to help foster a supportive learning environment and encourage collaborative study to improve academic performance.
These events are organised with the intent of helping students assimilate into the course, integrate with peers across the OD cohort, engage with potential employers, and connect with the wider optometric community.
